Animals were immunized with stromal cells from mouse bone marrow.
Spleen cells were fused with Sp2/0 myeloma cells.
The antibody blocks adhesion of lymphocyte precursors to bone marrow stromal cells.
The antibody recognizes an antigen believed to be the mouse analog of human VCAM-1 that is expressed on stromal cells in bone marrow and on inflamed endothelial cells (see also M/K-1.9, ATCC CRL-1910).
Complete Growth Medium RPMI 1640 medium with 0.05 mM 2-mercaptoethanol, 90%; fetal bovine serum, 10%
Subculturing Cultures can be maintained by addition of fresh medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension at 1 x 105 viable cells/mL.  Maintain cultures at a cell concentration between 0.5 x 105 and 1 x 106 cells/mL. Do not allow the cell concentration to exceed 1 x 106 cells/mL.
Medium Renewal: Two to three times weekly
